You preview the clip (see the previous section)
and notice that outline no longer follows the edge precisely:
This usually occurs because the hilight has moved to the wrong location.
It is therefore necessary to edit the hilight drawing.
In the above example it was frame 7.
Go to the frame located in step b).
You can repair the matte either by adjusting highlight (recommended) or by adjusting the outline.
Adjusting the Highlight (recommended) :
1. Select Draw Hilight.
2. With the right mouse button suppressed erase highlight in the area where the outline is off. Note that the eraser has an unusual property. If erasing is begun on an area marked inside the erased area is set to an inside value. If erasing is begun on an area marked as outside the erased area is set to outside.
Note that this erasing was begun from the inside so the erased area has been set to an inside value.
3. Redraw highlight.
4. If there are bits of "inside area" (light background) within the "outside area" (dark background) as on the picture above,
middle-click twice on the outside area of the image.5. Select Hilight Map display mode and make sure that Inside and Outside areas are marked correctly.
6. Click Create Matte.
7. If result does not look right go back to step 1.
8. Resume Tracking.
Note: Some artists find it simpler to edit the hilight drawing by first turning off the outside setting on the drawing using the Mark In/Outside mode, then edit the hilight using the Erase and Draw Hilight modes, and then reset the outside using Mark In/Outside mode.
Adjusting
the Outline:
1. Click Adjust Outline.
The image will appear darkened everywhere except the highlight area. The cursor will appear as a pencil.
2. Draw a segment of outline. You can draw within highlight area only.
